Spirit Airlines launches daily route to Monterrey from Austin

Assistant City Manager Gina Fiandaca, Deputy Consul General of Mexico Ricardo Sánchez Méndez, Mayor Steve Adler, AUS Chief Executive Officer Jacqueline Yaft, Spirit Airlines Senior Director of Airport Services Atul Kumria, and Air Service Task Force member Doug Driskill.

Spirit Airlines has launched a new daily, non-stop flight from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) to Monterrey, Mexico (MYT). As travel through AUS continues to expand, AUS continues to add nonstop flights to popular destinations to accommodate passenger preferences.

“AUS continues to grow exponentially,” said Jacqueline Yaft, Chief Executive Officer, AUS. “We are fast becoming not only a regional hub for Texas but also an international one as we add flights to all over the world. As a close neighbour, there are many connections, both personal and business, to Mexico most especially in Monterrey which is one of the most visited cities in Mexico.”

John Kirby, Vice President of Network Planning, Spirit Airlines, added: “It’s exciting to grow at AUS with a milestone route to Monterrey that provides critical connectivity for family and friends and a convenient option for travellers looking to explore this vibrant destination. We know our Austin guests want more options for flights both in the U.S. and across Mexico, and we’re proud to offer the only nonstop flight between Austin and Monterrey as well as launch new nonstop service to Miami later this year.”
