airBaltic launched its first direct flight from Riga to Gran Canaria on 1 November 2022. It is the airline’s second route to the Canary Islands after Tenerife. The Gran Canaria route is operated twice-weekly with the A220-300.

“Adding Gran Canaria to our route network expands airBaltic’s offering for the upcoming winter season,” said Martin Gauss, Chief Executive Officer, airBaltic. “It is the kind of place where people willingly choose to spend the cold months. We are glad to connect Latvia to another sunny, exciting and well-demanded destination in addition to Tenerife, which was launched last year and has demonstrated outstanding results of demand.”

Meanwhile, on 31 October 2022 airBaltic launched its first direct flight from Riga to Marrakesh. The route is also operated twice-weekly with the A220-300.

“We are excited to launch our first ever scheduled route to Africa,” said Pauls Cālītis, Chief Operations Officer, airBaltic. “Marrakesh, or the so-called Pearl of the South, is both an exotic and warm destination, and important centre of economics, also for Latvia. Moreover, it has plenty to offer for culture lovers as well. As the leading airline in the Baltics, we continue to build our network, adding more captivating leisure destinations also for the winter season.”
