Ryanair has launched two new services from Ireland West Airport to Edinburgh and Manchester. Both services will initially operate twice-weekly and on a year-round basis. These new services provide a major boost for the airport and the region as it restores critically-important connectivity.
Air Senegal has launched a one-stop service between Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport and Dakar, Senegal. The airline is operating two roundtrip flights per week to Blaise Diagne International Airport, with a stop at New York JFK.
Emirates’ has resumed A380 services to Manchester Airport, with the aircraft reintroduced in response to growing passenger demand. The resumption coincides with the 11th anniversary of the Emirates A380 serving Manchester. By October, the daily A380 service will increase to double-daily.
Embraer E190-E2 makes first commercial flight into London City Airport with Helvetic Airways’ Zurich service
An Embraer E190-E2 has made its first commercial flight into London City Airport. The Helvetic Airways aircraft flew from Zurich to London, re-establishing an essential link for the global financial community. The aircraft was welcomed by a water salute from London City Airport’s fire service.
Lufthansa will resume services between Frankfurt and Münster/Osnabrück Airport on 6 September 2021. There will initially be nine weekly connections. Lufthansa CityLine will use a 90-seat CRJ900 on the route.
Following the Government of Canada’s announcement to reopen international borders on 7 September, Air Canada has unveiled details of its planned Munich (MUC) – Toronto (YYZ) schedule, winning anna.aero’s prestigious Route of the Week prize. Air Canada is offering up to three flights per week on a 298-seat Boeing 787-9.
Ryanair continues to invest in the Swedish market by adding more destinations to Stockholm Arlanda and Göteborg Landvetter. These include Stockholm Arlanda to Barcelona, and Göteborg Landvetter to Kaunas. Meanwhile, Wizz Air continues to expand its network at Malmö Airport and increases service with a route to Sarajevo.
Emirates will restart flights to Newcastle Airport from 15 October, responding to the easing of international entry protocols and an upsurge in passenger demand. The airline will resume services with four weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays), all operated by B777 aircraft.
Contour Airlines has announced plans to offer new nonstop service from Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) to Nashville, TN (BNA) beginning 17 November 2021. GSP will be the first airport in South Carolina to offer scheduled Contour Airlines service. Contour Airlines will offer the only nonstop service from the Upstate region to Music City.
Budapest Airport welcomes return of Ural Airlines with inaugural connection to Ekaterinburg Koltsovo
From the first week of September, Ural Airlines will return to Budapest Airport with the gateway’s inaugural connection to Ekaterinburg Koltsovo, in addition to the re-opening of links to Zhukovsky city, southeast of central Moscow. Both destinations will be served weekly, using the airline’s fleet of two-class A320s.
Gulf Air has resumed regular services from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Bahrain. The route is operated twice-weekly on Saturdays and Mondays. The Bahrain route is important for the Moscow aviation hub, with Gulf Air operating one of the largest route networks in the Middle East.
Skytrans has begun operating on the Cairns to Horn Island to Bamaga route. Horn Island to Bamaga is the shortest regular passenger flight with a high capacity aircraft in Australia, taking just 10 minutes. Special cupcakes were shared with passengers to celebrate the inaugural service on the route.
