Adelaide Airport has welcomed the departure of QantasLink’s first direct flight from Adelaide to Newcastle (NSW). QantasLink will operate three weekly return services on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with the Embraer E190. Adelaide Airport and Newcastle Airport both celebrated with spectacular route launch cakes.
Adelaide Airport welcomed the start of Qantas operations to Hobart with a spectacular route launch cake. The large apple at its centrepiece signifies Tasmania being one of the world’s major apple producers. The themed cake also highlights the experiences South Australia has to offer, such as wines.

Qantas will be basing five Embraer E190s in Adelaide to cater for increased domestic travel demand. As a result, Qantas launched fights between Adelaide and the Gold Coast on 25 June 2021. Adelaide Airport was awarded anna.aero’s prestigious Cake of the Week prize for its spectacular route launch cake.
Rex Airlines launched a new double-daily service between Adelaide and Melbourne on 31 March 2021. It is Rex’s second route between capital cities with its interstate expansion in Australia. Adelaide Airport celebrated with a spectacular destination-themed cake, which is joint-winner of anna.aero’s Cake of the Week prize.
QantasLink launched a new five times weekly service between Adelaide and Mount Gambier on 28 March, capturing anna.aero’s prestigious Cake of the Week prize for a spectacular effort featuring Adelaide’s famous vineyards and Mount Gambier’s stunning Blue Lake. The route is operated by the airline’s 50-seat Q300 turboprop aircraft.
