It’s been a mixed week in Ireland. The country’s capital airport finally opened its new terminal while the country sought an EU bail out. But which routes have been lost from which airports in the last two years?

Over 60 new routes this week with a strong bias towards European LCCs. Cimber Sterling, easyJet, Jet2.com, Ryanair and Wizz Air all launched multiple routes. But AirAsia, Avianova, BA CityFlyer, Delta, Flydubai, Southwest, Spanair and Transaero among others all had reasons to celebrate this week.

What happens when you combine Aer Lingus with Aer Arann? You get Aer Lingus Regional operating from Dublin and Cork, and three new UK – Ireland routes all of which Ryanair used to serve, two of them up until last June.

The relative calm before the megastorm. Just a handful of new routes this week involving Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Thailand and the USA. Next week, as the summer season officially gets under way, we will have information on almost 200 global new routes.
