Last week anna.aero’s Assistant Editor Jonathan Ford travelled to New Zealand on Qatar Airways’ first flight to Auckland, the longest route in the world. While in New Zealand he caught up with Adrian Littlewood, CEO of Auckland Airport, to discover more about the booming city’s recent route developments.
At 14,535 kilometres, Qatar Airways launched the world’s longest flight between Doha and Auckland on 5 February, beating the previous longest route flown by ‘Arch’ rival Emirates from its Dubai hub to New Zealand’s biggest city. But what score did Auckland get for its Arch of Triumph welcoming this landmark new route?
