LCCs make up a quarter of all traffic and Malev, under its new owners, is clawing back market share as traffic to the leading two country destinations (Germany and the UK) fell in 2007. But, overall traffic was still up 4% to 8.6 million. What’s new in 2008?

First the national airline Malev was sold to Russians and then the airport was sold by British BAA to German Hochtief. Traffic has stabilised after two year of post-EU membership euphoria and this year SkyEurope scrapped its base. But Ryanair has now turned up and there’s still Wizz Air.
