New routes launched during the last week
(Saturday 17 October – Friday 23 October):
The lull before the (winter) storm. Just 16 new routes this week but they involve airports in Canada, China, Egypt, Macau, Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, Spain, Sri Lanka, the UAE, the UK and the US. Get ready, next week we’ll be reporting on the launch of over 150 new routes.

(Saturday 15 August – Friday 21 August)
Things pick up again this week, though some routes originally scheduled to start this week have been put back. But we still have Southwest’s arrival in Boston, several new routes from Norwegian, a new country market for AirAsia and Jet Airways adding flights to Dubai. Plus China Eastern, Donbassaero, SA Airlink and TACA.
New routes launched during the last week (Saturday 1 August – Friday 7 August):
We found 15 airlines who this week took the plunge and started (or in some cases re-started) new routes. These include new domestic services in Australia, Russia and the USA plus international routes involving Brazil, Croatia, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, Netherlands, Panama, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Ukraine, USA and Venezuela.

Another nine new routes were started around the world this week by Aer Arann (Ireland), Air France (France), EVA Air (Taiwan), Kingfisher (India), Mexicana (Mexico), Turkish Airlines (Turkey), Sun-Air (Denmark) and Wizz Air (Poland).

(Saturday 10 January – Friday 16 January):
Another 17 new routes were started around the world this week by Azul (Brazil), BA (UK), Cebu Pacific (Philippines), Cimber Air (Denmark), Eastern Airways (UK), easyJet (UK), JAL (Japan), Mihin Lanka (Sri Lanka), Oman Air (Oman), Turkish Airlines (Turkey), Vivaaerobus (Mexico) and VLM (Netherlands).

(Saturday 6 December – Friday 12 December):
A brief lull this week before we have over 50 new routes starting next week. However, BA started a new route to India, easyJet launched four new routes including a domestic French route, and Transavia (a Dutch airline) started a whopping eight new routes from Copenhagen (in Denmark). Ah, the joys of EU liberalisation. Plus new routes from Mexicana, SriLankan and TUIfly.com. Ryanair took the week off but will be back with a bang next week!

This week sees another batch of new routes launched by airlines from all across the globe including AirTran, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Bahrain Air, Cebu Pacific, easyJet, Hainan Airlines, Insel Air, LACSA, Maldivian, Norwegian, TAM, Thai AirAsia, Tiger Airways and Volaris. Oh, and Ryanair started some new routes as well. What a surprise.
