New routes this week from Air New Zealand (New Zealand), Allegiant Air (USA), Cebu Pacific (Philippines), Cimber Sterling (Denmark), Flybe (UK), jetBlue (USA) and Wizz Air (Czech Republic and Romania).

We identified just three new routes that started this week. Step forward City Airline (Sweden), jetBlue (US) and Wataniya Airways (Kuwait).

We look back over the last three weeks and discover that over 50 new routes have started operating during the Christmas and New Year period. Ryanair led the way once more with 21 new routes but there were also ventures into the unknown for Aer Arann, Air Azul, Air Canada, Air Southwest, AirTran, British Airways Cityflyer, Delta, Helvetic, jetBlue, Kingfisher, Mihin Lanka, Northwest, Transavia, United, WestJet, Wizz Air and Yamal Airlines.

A very busy week as many airlines launched new routes aimed at the winter leisure market, whether it be skiing in Europe or sunshine in the US. We tracked almost 50 new routes that started this week operated by 24 different airlines including: airBaltic, Arik Air, British Airways, Copa, easyJet, Emirates, jetBlue, Ryanair, SAS, Singapore Airlines, TACA, Transavia.com, Turkish Airlines, WestJet and Wizz Air.
