Frontier Airlines traffic grew by 76% from Orlando in 2016, with Q1 2017 passenger count up 28%; home to 18% of the airline’s passengers
Orlando is Frontier Airlines’ second largest airport operation, with it welcoming 2.63 million passengers with the airline in 2016. This is particularly impressive given that in 2009 only 110,000 passengers used the ULCC from Orlando. We look behind the airline’s expansion from the Floridian gateway in recent years.
The 787 flew its first commercial service in October 2011, however, the first really new city pairing didn’t happen until April 2012 between Tokyo Narita and Boston with rival Japan Airlines. Since then, a further 139 exclusive, unserved new routes have been opened, with 33 more currently planned.
Norwegian begins weekly service between the two airports – route last served by Air France in 2012.
