This week’s new routes cover destinations in Afghanistan, Australia, China, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Qatar, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the USA.
French airport traffic down less than 3% in Q3; LCCs generating regional growth
France’s economy has suffered less than others in Europe during the recession, and the same can be said of its airports. We look at traffic trends this year at the top 15 airports, and also how passenger numbers in September compare with those of two years ago.

Phew!
Fast-growing Aigle Azur carves niche in France to Algeria market
With a fleet of 11 Airbus’ Aigle Azur serves North Africa and Portugal from various French airports. Passenger numbers have doubled in the last four years and new destinations have been added including Bamako in Mali.
French airport growth driven by LCCs; domestic demand still falling though LCCs stimulating inter-regional routes

This week sees another batch of new routes launched by airlines from all across the globe including AirTran, Alaska Airlines, Allegiant Air, Bahrain Air, Cebu Pacific, easyJet, Hainan Airlines, Insel Air, LACSA, Maldivian, Norwegian, TAM, Thai AirAsia, Tiger Airways and Volaris. Oh, and Ryanair started some new routes as well. What a surprise.
