London Southend has been rejuvenated under the stewardship of Stobart Group, and handled 1.09 million passengers last year, an impressive 25% increase on the figures of 2016. With the airport set to welcome two new carriers in 2018, Nick Preston looks at its recent network trends and upcoming route launches.

Vueling starts its second service from Rennes with London Gatwick connection.
In this week’s Network Planning Community News, Ryanair announces new routes from Birmingham to Chania, Girona and Reus, while China Southern Airlines is close to signing an agreement to serve Adelaide. Finally London City celebrates Flybe’s Rennes inauguration.
