Routes Americas: 70+ airlines and 220 airports meet in San Antonio to rebuild region’s air connectivity
Routes Americas 2022 took place this week in San Antonio, hosted by San Antonio International Airport. Over 70 airlines, 220 airports, and 375 organisations met to expedite the region’s recovery and fuel future air service growth. Routes Americas 2023 will take place in Chicago.
The Routes Americas 2021 conference heard from four leading airports – Philadelphia International Airport, SEA Milan Airports, Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom), and Lima Airport – on how they have embraced transformation to future-proof their businesses and helped to create a stronger, more resilient industry in the long-term.
The Routes Americas 2021 conference heard from the two leading ultra low cost carriers in the Americas – Frontier Airlines and Spirit Airlines – on how they have re-planned their networks during COVID-19, what their major plans are for the next few years to rebuild demand, and what they need from airports during this time.
The Routes Americas 2021 conference included a session focused on the ‘State of the Airport Industry in the Americas’. Matthew Cornelius, Executive Vice President, Airports Council International (ACI) – North America, discussed the impact of COVID-19 on the airport business in the Americas and the path to recovery.
In the Routes Americas 2021 conference, Peter Cerdá, Regional Vice President the Americas, IATA, outlined the state of the airline industry in the Americas. The session covered how the region could tackle COVID-19, as well as long-term competitiveness in the areas of infrastructure, taxes and charges, regulatory framework and environmental sustainability.
Routes Americas takes place this month (Orlando, 23-25 June), marking a much-anticipated return of face-to-face networking. Over 600 meetings have already been scheduled for the event and more than 230 organisations are currently registered to attend, including 41 airlines and 160 airports.
Routes is launching a brand-new virtual event – TakeOff Cargo – to support stakeholders involved in the development of air cargo transportation. The event takes place on 20-21 July 2021. Meanwhile, Routes Americas takes place next month (Orlando, 23-25 June), marking a much-anticipated return of face-to-face networking, and Routes has confirmed a stellar conference programme.
