Kuching
welcome reception
The traditional Routes Sunday night Welcome Reception was hosted at the conference venue — the Borneo
Convention Centre, Kuching. With 770 registered delegates, including over 100 airlines, making it to this year’s
event, Routes Asia Kuching becomes the biggest Asian regional conference (beating Mumbai last year which
had 730 registered delegates) since it was launched 12 years ago. Following a glass of Tuak (a traditional
rice wine made from preserved glutinous rice and yeast) upon entry to the venue, guests were served a huge
selection of Malaysian savoury and sweet dishes, which were accompanied by local musicians.
