McCarran
International:
the potential is endless
Las Vegas may be the
city that has
everything, but the airport
doesn’t quite have all that
it wants and has set out at
this year’s show to pursue
new links with some of
Asia’s major carriers.
Using the impressive new
Terminal 3 as bait to attract
new carriers and a packed
schedule of entertainment
– ranging from hula-
hoop performances to
three-piece bands – to
attract visitors to its
exciting stand, McCarran
International Airport has
meetings lined up with
all of the major Chinese
carriers over the next few
days.“Las Vegas is getting
the Asian traffic at the
moment, but it’s through
one- and two-stops.We’ve
sent delegations over to
Asia on an annual basis, but
having them here to see it
in person is sure to make a
difference,” said Rosemary
Vassiliadis, Director of
Aviation, Clark County
Department of Aviation.
“South America is another
area we’re looking at,
although we do have a
very good service through
Panama City. Elsewhere,
we’ve always thought
that Lufthansa could bring
us more European traffic
without clashing with BA
from Heathrow, so we’re
still very hopeful on that.”
Vassiliadis highlighted
the role that T3, which
opened in June 2012, can
play in attracting these
new international services.
“T3 makes this absolutely
viable,”she said.“With just
T2, it wouldn’t have been
impossible, but we would
have had to be a lot more
creative to accommodate
everyone. Nowwe have T3,
we’re providing the efficiency
and we’ve done our part to
allow our airline partners to
do the best job possible.”
Rosemary Vassiliadis, Director of Aviation, Clark County
Department of Aviation, told anna.aero’s Ryan Ghee
that McCarran International Airport will meet with all
of the major Chinese carriers at this year’s show as it
continues its efforts to attract more Asian services.
