AEROPUERTO INTERNACIONAL MONSEÑOR OSCAR ARNULFO ROMERO
Mexico’s Toluca International Airport is once again seeing an upturn
in traffic with passenger numbers up 14% in 2013 to over 1.1 million.
The secondary airport for Mexico City suffered when the demise of Mexicana
resulted in several carriers redeploying their aircraft to Mexico City’s main
airport. But now traffic is picking up once more with several airlines adding new
routes in 2013, including Aeromexico launching new domestic flights to
Acapulco, Cancun, Guadalajara andMonterrey, and Interjet adding a new service
to Tijuana. In addition VivaAerobus launched low frequency flights to Tampica
and Villahermosa, and Aeromar added daily flights to Veracruz. The airline is
hoping to announce additional new services in the coming week for 2014.
Toluca Airport’s Financial Planning Manager Jonathan Balva Bensimon, and CCO Misael Alvarez
Davila, posed for a picture with Southwest Airlines’ Julian Gelvez, Senior Business Consultant, Network
Planning. Will the airline, which currently serves Mexico City’s main airport non-stop from two US
destinations (Orange County and San Antonio) with its AirTran subsidiary, switch to Toluca?
Following the recommendation of the Caribbean
