Chicago
O’Hare
Airport was
yesterday
celebrating the
announcement that
Emirates will start
daily flights to the
Illinois airport on 5
August, making it
the airline’s ninth
US destination. A
Boeing 777-200LR
with eight first-class
‘suites’, 42
business-class seats
and 216 economy
seats will be used on
the route. Other new
services planned to
start this summer
include United
Airlines’ new
domestic daily
flights to Atlantic
City, Bangor, Erie,
Flint and St. Cloud,
as well as a new
international
service to
Edinburgh. Spirit
Airlines is also
expanding at the
airport with new
daily services to
Baltimore/
Washington,
Oakland and
Portland (Oregon).
Meanwhile, Chicago
Midway Airport
will welcome a
new service from
Southwest Airlines
in October, when
the abolition of the
Wright Amendment
will enable the
LCC to serve its
Chicago base for
the first time from
its Dallas Love
Field headquarters.
Frontier Airlines
announced
yesterday that
it would start a
seasonal four times
weekly service
to Harrisburg, PA
starting from 13
June. Later this
year Chicago will
be the venue for
the 20th World
Route Development
Forum from 20-23
September.
