Watkins delivers
FTWA TRAINING TO BUDAPEST
AIRPORT FIRE CREWS
AEROPUERTO INTERNACIONAL MONSEÑOR OSCAR ARNULFO ROMERO
On a recent
visit to
Budapest Airport, anna.
aero’s Editor Marc Watkins
delivered some Fire Truck
Water Arch (FTWA) training
to the airport’s fire crews
and marketing
departments. The purpose
of the high-level, 28-minute
seminar (including coffee
breaks) was to reveal the
‘dos’ and ‘don’ts’ for any
future entries into the ‘Arch
of Triumph’ competition by
the Hungarian capital city
airport. Any other airports
wishing to book the expert
FTWA training services of
anna.aero’s Editor, please
deposit 38 billion
Zimbabwean dollars in his
Swiss bank account and
he’ll call you to arrange
a date.
“i’m really here Mum,” says Watkins (left) as he poses in
front of Budapest Airport’s latest bit of kit — a beautiful
Rosenbauer Panther ARff vehicle — with Zoltan Hozbor,
Deputy Commander for the airport’s fire service.
Before the serious business of the fTWA
training began, Watkins was able to test the
highest fire pole in Hungary, clearly loving
every second of the plummet to earth.
Getting to grips with a wooden rescue dummy
which the real airport firefighters have to find
in a smoke-filled cage maze meant to replicate a
jumbled aircraft interior following an incident.
